SCMI1 is seeking a highly motivated professional to fill a vacant Diesel Technician role. The candidate will function in accordance with the equivalent responsibilities of an Engineering Technician V to provide technical assistance with inspecting and maintaining critical shipboard systems as directed by Navy Regional Maintenance Centers to include:
• Must possess, or be able to obtain, and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET Security Clearance.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- Main Propulsion Diesel Engines
- Diesel Engine Couplings
- Clutch Assemblies
- Lubricating Oil Systems
- Combustion Air Systems
- Power Generation Diesel Engines
• Must possess, or be able to obtain, and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET Security Clearance.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- 5 to 7 years of experience operating and maintaining Navy shipboard diesel-power generating equipment
- Direct knowledge of Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual, Navy Standard Items, and applicable Naval Ships’ Technical Manuals
- Demonstrated experience performing Navy assessments and inspections
- Ability to execute physical shipboard surveys in accordance with assigned division protocols
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation pertaining to critical shipboard assessments
- Ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
- MS Office suite proficiency required
- Have completed, or ability to complete, Diesel Engine Inspection course within two years of hire
- Ability to use clear and concise oral and written communications
- Associate’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar fiel
- Two additional years of specific experience may be substituted for the educational requirement
